Child Safeguarding Policy (CSP)

  1. POLICY OVERVIEW Shri Sai Educational and Welfare Association is committed to the welfare and education of underprivileged children and persons with disabilities. We recognize our fundamental duty to protect children from all forms of abuse, neglect, and exploitation. This policy applies to all staff, volunteers, partners, and visitors associated with the organization.
  2. CORE GUIDING PRINCIPLES
  • Zero Tolerance: We maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of child abuse (physical, emotional, or sexual).
  • Best Interest of the Child: All actions and decisions taken by the organization shall be guided by the best interests of the child.
  • Co-operation & Trust: We work with children and their families in a spirit of partnership based on mutual respect.
  1. CODE OF CONDUCT FOR ADULTS To ensure a safe environment, all staff and volunteers must:
  • Maintain visibility and avoid being alone with a child in closed-door settings.
  • Respect the dignity and privacy of every child.
  • Seek written consent before taking or using photographs/videos of children for any purpose.
  • Refrain from any form of corporal punishment or demeaning language.
  1. LEGAL COMPLIANCE & REPORTING The organization is committed to upholding Indian laws regarding child protection:
  • POCSO Act (2012): Any suspicion or allegation of sexual abuse will be handled strictly as per the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
  • JJ Act (2015): We adhere to the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.
  • Reporting: Any staff member who suspects abuse must immediately report it to the designated Child Safeguarding Officer. Confidentiality of the reporter and the victim will be strictly maintained.
  1. RECRUITMENT & CAPACITY BUILDING
  • Screening: All potential employees and volunteers must undergo a background check and provide references before joining.
  • Training: Regular orientation and refresher courses on child rights, safety protocols, and redressed mechanisms will be provided to all stakeholders.
  • Declaration: Every member must sign a declaration of understanding and adherence to this policy.

  1. POLICY REVIEW This policy will be reviewed periodically by the Board of Management to ensure it remains updated with the latest legal requirements and organizational needs.
