PoSH Policy (Safety of Women)

Policy against Sexual Harassment at Workplace (PoSH)

Shri Sai Educational and Welfare Association

  1. Objective Shri Sai Educational and Welfare Association is committed to providing a work environment free from discrimination, exploitation, and violence. We believe that sexual harassment is a violation of human rights and a criminal offence. Our goal is to ensure a safe and dignified workplace for all employees, volunteers, and stakeholders.
  2. Scope This policy applies to all individuals working at our offices, field sites, or attending any official events, including:
  • Regular and contractual staff.
  • Volunteers and interns.
  • Visitors, donors, and partners.
  1. What Constitutes Sexual Harassment? Sexual harassment includes any unwelcome sexually determined behavior (whether directly or by implication) such as:
  • Physical contact and advances.
  • A demand or request for sexual favors.
  • Sexually colored remarks or jokes.
  • Showing pornography or inappropriate visual material.
  • Any other unwelcome physical, verbal, or non-verbal conduct of a sexual nature.
  1. Prevention and Safety Measures
  • Awareness: We regularly sensitize our team (core staff and volunteers) about the PoSH Act and the importance of professional boundaries.
  • Safe Culture: Management ensures that no individual is retaliated against for reporting a concern in good faith.
  1. Redressal Mechanism In compliance with the law, we handle grievances through a structured process:
  • Internal Committee (IC): Even with a small team, we designate responsible members (led by a senior woman member) to hear complaints.
  • Confidentiality: The identity of the complainant and the details of the investigation are kept strictly confidential.
  • Timeframe: Every complaint is addressed promptly, with an aim to conclude investigations as per the timelines prescribed under the PoSH Act.
  1. Disciplinary Action If the conduct amounts to an offence under the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the management will assist the affected person in taking legal/criminal action. Internally, proven harassment can lead to immediate termination of service/volunteer-ship.
  2. Commitment to Partners We encourage our partners and associated vendors to adopt similar measures to ensure that the spirit of this policy is upheld across all our project areas.

“Note: This policy is reviewed periodically to stay updated with the latest legal amendments and to ensure the highest standards of workplace safety.”
